Long-serving Worcestershire all-rounder, Joe Leach, will launch his 2024 testimonial year at New Road with a Gala Captain’s Dinner in the Graeme Hick Pavilion on Friday, February 9 (7-7.30pm).

A three course meal (see the menu below), reminiscing with SIX Worcestershire captains past and present spanning more than 50 years, and music from a live band will make it an evening to remember to kick off the 12 months.

Norman Gifford, Phil Neale, Tim Curtis, Daryl Mitchell, Joe himself and current Club Captain, Brett D’Oliveira, will relive some of the glorious moments in Worcestershire’s history when they were at the helm.

Norman played in three Championship winning sides at New Road, Phil skippered Worcestershire to six trophies in five years, Tim led the Pears to the 1994 NatWest Trophy at Lord’s and Daryl, Joe and Brett have all captained teams to promotion in the County Championship.

They will be interviewed in pairs in between each course by BBC Hereford-Worcester cricket commentator, Frank Watson, who is also the Chair of Joe’s testimonial committee.

Tickets are priced £60 each or £550 for a table of ten and can be obtained by clicking here.

There will also be an auction with several excellent items of sporting memorabilia and other packages available to bid for during the evening.

It is a superb way to launch the testimonial for Joe who has been a top and loyal performer for Worcestershire during the past decade, particularly with the ball in picking up 450 first class wickets so far.

There will be many more events to follow during the next 12 months and an itinerary will be announced in the near future.

Joe’s committee consists of Frank Watson (Chair), Denise Booth (Treasurer), John Curtis (Secretary), Kevin Powell, Dave Huntbatch, Ed Foster and Clive O’Donnell.

"His presence in the changing room is a masterclass of being a leader and driving himself and his team on no matter what the situation. The levels of care he shows to his team mates, the passion he displays and the humour he delivers (mostly self deprecating thankfully) make him a great bloke and someone you want on your team everyday of the week. This for me is why he is so worthy of this testimonial and every success that comes his way."
