Joe’s, work ethic, determination and hunger to be the best cricketer he can be, has led him to having a wonderful career with Worcestershire and that longevity being rewarded with a testimonial, it is so well deserved.
Joe, arrived at University in 2011 and was part of the Leeds/Bradford MCCU squad for two years while studying at Leeds University.
Joe, quickly became one of our leading players on and off the field - showing signs of being a possible captain in years to come. Joe, was batting four and he did not bowl in year one but again, his bowling in the nets showed signs that he could become an outstanding all-rounder with bat and ball.
By the start of the 2012 season, Joe was part of the Leeds/Bradford MCCU bowling unit for that season and went on to pick up a 4/73 and scored a 50 vs Surrey at The Oval in his First Class Debut.
Joe has not looked back, scoring First Class hundreds and taking 450 First Class wickets. In 2016 he became captain of Worcestershire.
Joe’s, work ethic, determination and hunger to be the best cricketer he can be, has led him to having a wonderful career with Worcestershire and that longevity being rewarded with a testimonial, it is so well deserved.
As Head Coach of the Leeds/Bradford MCCU it was an honour and privilege to have had you, Joe, as part of our set up for those couple of years, playing a small part in your cricket career and I have followed your career closely, watching you grow as a person and a cricketer. Joe, I’m proud of you and I know your whole family will be proud of you too. Congratulations again and hope your testimonial year will be a great success, as you have been in your career.
All the best
Andrew Lawson and all at Leeds/Bradford MCCU/UCCE
